Getting to Waterloo

The closest large international airport is Lester B. Pearson International Airport just outside of Toronto (YYZ). There are multiple flights per day to and from just about anywhere in the world. For airport information, please see

To get from Pearson airport to Waterloo, you can either rent a car, or take the Airways Transit shuttle (; about $72 for one ride). In addition to pre-reserved trips, Airways Transit also has regularly scheduled trips to the Waterloo Inn (see Accomodation Information below; distance airport-hotel: 94 km).

For visitors arriving from the US, it may be possible to fly into Waterloo Region International Airport with Northwest Airlines. For more information, see

Accomodation Information

We have reserved a block of rooms at the Waterloo Inn ( At the moment, 15 rooms are blocked for the period from September 6th to 12th, at a rate of $123.00 per night. When making a reservation, use the booking code "Modelica 2008". The rooms are blocked only until July 26th, so it's best to make reservations before then. This hotel has free high speed internet access (WiFi in all rooms).

Another nearby hotel is the Destination Inn (, although we have no rooms blocked there, and their rates are thus higher ($149/night).

Getting to Maplesoft

Maplesoft is about a 3.5 km walk from the Waterloo Inn, or 1.9 km from the Destination Inn. We will also be arranging a shuttle from the hotel to Maplesoft and back.

Side Trip to Niagara Falls

If there is sufficient interest, we will be organizing a side trip to Niagara Falls, the most powerful waterfall in North America. On average, 110 000 m3 of water go over the 53 m high waterfall every minute.

It has been suggested that the best date for this side trip would be September 7th, so that European travelers can take advantage of lower over-the-weekend airfares. Please let me know if you are interested in such a trip, and if you would plan to bring your family, so that we can arrange appropriate transportation.
